This Friday I got an email about a Russian Pianist without hands and missing a leg because of an illness he survived when he was little. Check this out....
Read the article above and think about overcoming genetics and biology. What does it take to be uncommon?
The TCU baseball team makes a team video each year with a different theme. This year the theme is "Uncommon."
As we approach the last few weeks of the school year, I want you to think about what it means to be uncommon. What does this mean to you? What if we all looked for the "uncommon" in our everyday lives? What would it look like? What if we started a trend on Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter with the hashtag "uncommon?" Can one small group of honors biology students start a movement?
Send a link of something uncommon, take a picture of something uncommon, make a video of something uncommon or write a paragraph about what it means to you....
Being uncommon I think is something in this day and age that sets you apart from other people but is often seen as a bad thing. Different personalities, talents, and even the way people look and act apart from the way others are is seen as often weird or strange. Instead of looking at someone and seeing all the ways they are unique as an individual, people tend to look at how different or uncommon someone may be. The truth is that this should be the opposite so people everywhere can embrace what is unique about themselves instead of constantly changing or adjusting to fit others standards. This happens a lot to young girls I think, especially as we see the standards of celebrities and famous women who they portray to think is normal or the “perfect” way we have to look. So instead of focusing on all the ways our uncommon aspects are different from others, it is important to come to our full potential and realize we all can do amazing things in the present and in the future.
ReplyDeleteI agree, people today think that being different is a bad thing, and that being the same is good and okay. But they should be flipped, and being different should be the cool thing to be.
DeleteUncommon means to be different, or out of the ordinary. The most successful people are uncommon, because they put in everything they have to achieve something that most people are too lazy to do. If everyone started being uncommon in their everyday live uncommon would become common and the society would grow as a whole. If the honors bio classes all started using the hashtag uncommon we may be able to make a difference. One small person could even begin a movement. Also I believe it is possible to overcome your genetics partially. Like the pianist, he put in lots of time and practice to achieve what he wanted to. That is what it takes to overcome your genetics. For example in sports, your genetics may not play in your favor but that doesn't mean you will not achieve your goal. You only need to put in more effort to make up for the genetics that go against your goals.

In my personal opinion, I think being "uncommon" is being different or acting different in your own way/manner, wether good or bad. It can come in the shape of people and their actions or reactions to certain things. Or, it can come as a big or small change in the way we live our everyday lives. Uncommon can be good or bad, depending on your views and if you are willing to accept something if it is uncommon.

This is a link to information on the cuttle fish, which I think is cool and has uncommon traits when compared to other fish.
I agree that uncommon can be good and bad. I think cuttlefish are cool, but depending on your interpretation of uncommon, you might think that they are common because they are not endangered or rare.
DeleteI agree with you that being uncommon can be a good thing but may also be a bad thing. It all depends on what you think is common and what you are willing to accept as being normal, or common.

ReplyDeleteThis link is to a picture of a blue eyed plecostomus. These are very uncommon compared to their counterparts: common plecos. Common Plecos are a couple dollars, but because of the rareness of these, blue eyed plecos go for hundreds of dollars.
I read the article about the finger less pianist. I think that anyone can overcome their genetics good or bad and be who they choose to be. They are the ones you choose what they do. Not all famous athletes have that sports gene. It is the effort you put forth that helps you succeed. Genetics can help or hinder anyone but everyone with enough time and effort can overcome those things. Uncommon to me just means those you have made it to a place where they can be different and stand out. Do something for someone else or overcome a curveball sent your way. If we all looked for the uncommon we might see all the things we can do and all that we have been able to do. I think that if we as a class started a #uncommon we can do some wonderful things and change the way many people see things. If we as a class put our minds to it then there is no stopping us for making uncommon from spreading and make a difference, as small as it may be, in the world we know today.
ReplyDeleteBeing uncommon is very important because if everyone was alike, our world wouldn't be as unique and exciting as when everyone is different. You can do anything you want to if you just tell yourself that you "can" instead of "can't". Even if there are some setbacks for a specific task, you can always overcome this stereotype by conquering this label that people have placed on you. I believe that being uncommon is significant in a person's life because this allows people to be more comfortable with who they are as a person. Never underestimate your strengths and weaknesses because no one out there has the same talents and abilities that everyone possesses, due to the entire world being uncommon.
ReplyDeleteI so agree!I love your motivational speech, because you are so right. Being uncommon can simply just be a mind set or overcoming a label or challenge.
DeleteI agree with you that if everyone was common we would all be alike and that is not exciting. Also you make a great point about the whole world being uncommon because everyone has different talents and abilities.
DeleteI agree with you that such variety in people's talents is a positive thing for the world. It's good that we all have a place in some sort of hobby that we can excel at. It takes pressure off comparing ourselves to one another.
DeleteThis means a lot to me. Uncommon people in this world are becoming more common. But despite their differences they always find away to do what they love and strive at it. Uncommon to me means that they have a disability or they are very unique in their life. I think everyone has the ability to become the second meaning of uncommon. Everyone has the ability to have a different personality but no one seems to want to. A small group can start a big movement depending on the campaign starter. Sure a hashtag could get a lot of re tweets/posts but it wouldn’t inspire everyone to become uncommon.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that for a person to be uncommon they have to have a disability or be very unique, uncommon means just a little different.
DeleteI agree, it seems like being uncommon is becoming more and more popular throughout the years. But, I also think this is good so people can express their differences between one another.
DeleteI think everyone is uncommon, because of The Law of Independent Assortment, and how it says that everyone's genes are a random assortment of genes. This means that no one is the same, because of all the different chromosomes in your body that make up who you are. Although no one is exactly the same, people think of common as what every they see the most. You may think that blue eyes are common, but there is only about 8% of people with blue eyes around the world. It is all about what you are exposed to. If there was a tag of Instagram of #uncommon, I would assume it would be a movement of people expressing their individuality and realizing that they are different from everyone else in the world. The probability of a person becoming exactly like you, is the probability of two million people rolling a trillion sided dice, and all landing on the exact same number. If that doesn't prove that everyone is different, I don't know what will.
ReplyDeleteI like how you related this to one of the law's of dominance, very clever.
DeleteIts great how you observe commonness as a social construct that is determined by the norms of the times. When taking such a word literally, it seems insensible to describe any fraction of human race.
DeleteI agree with Alison, not everyone is created equal. I liked the connection with the law from our last unit.
DeleteI think that uncommon means the unfamiliar. If something isn’t like it usually is it is uncommon, for instance, a pianist with no hands. I don’t think I have much uncommon in my day to day life, I tend to do the same things everyday. Something being uncommon unrecognizable but it’s the kind of thing you know when you see or you think about it and it doesn't seem right. I think 120 high school students could start a movement if enough effort was put forward, single people have started movements by putting in enough work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Nice blog post to put in perspective what uncommon mean to you.
DeleteTo me, uncommon means many things. Being uncommon can be as simple as deciding to turn right instead of left, or as complex as coming up with a new way to do what you love. I think the world would be an extremely interesting place if everyone looked for the uncommon inside of them, because everyone would be unique, and there would be no shortage of interesting people in the world. I think it would be possible to start a movement, but in reality, many of those are not as meaningful as you would think. Most internet trends rise and fall in a short time, and people forget about them quickly. I think if we want everyone to be uncommon, we should start with our own lives, and slowly but surely, it will spread.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think someone could successfully integrate memes into a educational blog post, good job Robert
DeleteBeing uncommon is very important in life. Its what sets us apart from everyone else. Its what makes you special. In our world, if everyone was alike, life would be very boring. Some of the most successful people in the world were considered to be "uncommon" because they didn't care what people thought of them for standing out. They chose to be their own person and follow their own beliefs, and not what society has chosen for them. A lot of people look at celebrities who have this sort of image of as "perfection". People set standards for themselves which mainly holds u back from your full potential.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that being uncommon is very important.. Because if everyone was common/the same, life would be very boring and "plain".
DeleteI believe that just what I learned in bio about mendels laws is that everyone is uncommon. Even though people are made up very different and uncommon from each other there is still this expectation in society that makes you common or uncommon as a human. What people don't realize is they are more different from their fellow people then they know but, someone just has to open their eyes and show their stubborn brain that everyone is different and uncommon from the other.
ReplyDeleteI found this pianist to be very inspirational to everyone in showing that you should always follow your dreams. And honestly if everyone started following their hopes and strived for "uncommon", our world would have so many more amazing people just like the kid from the video. As for starting a movement with posting #uncommon, I find it to be unlikely that there will be anything more than a laugh at the person who said it. Our society today generally rejects the idea of "different."

ReplyDeleteThis is a link to a video about a gymnast who doesn't have any legs. Insted of letting her disability stop her she let this drive her towards her goal. A legless gymnast is an uncommon thing, and because it's uncommon it makes it a whole lot more interesting
That's really cool and shows that even someones biggest insecurity can also be the best thing about you.
DeleteUncommon to me means not to be normal, be the odd one out, be the black sheep or something that doesn't happen or isn’t seen everyday. Uncommon in our everyday lives can be seen by what we wear, do, and how we act. Everyone is uncommon because we are not the same but not everyone will walk around saying their uncommonness in fear of being judge, that why if we started a hashtag uncommon people might start feeling better about themselves because they might start to feel that being uncommon or doing something uncommon is okay. I’m pretty sure if we wanted to start a #uncommon on social media we could do it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you every person is uncommon in their on
Deleteway.
I agree that stating this new trend could have a major impact in people's lives making them realize that not everyone is alike, but are different.
DeleteI believe being uncommon is a good and bad thing. Everyone has a random assortment of genes, so no one is exactly alike. That proves we are all different. If there was a trend #uncommon on something like Instagram I think it will help people see that we all are really different, people would feel more confident knowing everyone else is and also feels different. Being uncommon isn't a bad thing, we all are in our own ways. Not everyone is going to see it but those who do are going to show how being uncommon, is well a common thing.
ReplyDeleteI think being uncommon is extremely important. If everyone was alike then there’s no point in anything because everyone would be the exact same. There would be no conflict and humanity thrives and evolves off of conflicts. Expressing your uniqueness shows courage and bravery and I believe we could start a trend if we all used the #uncommon. Below is a picture and description of a Frilled Shark. They look so cool to me and I have never seen or even heard of a shark like this. This shark is so rare to us because of where it lives plus it is so uncommon from a lot if not all other sharks I’ve seen.
ReplyDeletehttp://ocean.nationalgeographic.com/ocean/photos/deep-sea-creatures/#/deep-sea01-frill-shark_18161_600x450.jpg
I agree, life would be so boring if we were to be all the same.
DeleteI agree that if everyone was alike, our world wouldn't be eventful and interesting. I think that starting the #uncommon trend can make a huge impact on our world.
DeleteTo be uncommon I think it means you are special, many people just go do common things and be common people but people do uncommon things or things out of the ordinary they are special. To go even deeper into that, many people are uncommon just by themselves. Everyone is different so everyone is uncommon, they are all made of different genes with different talents. I found this article about common things uncommon people do and I thought it was interesting to read and see if you're common or uncommon in the world .http://convictiontraining.com/10-common-traits-in-uncommon-people
ReplyDeleteInquiring the impact of genetics is to ensue the nature vs nurture debate. Are we destined to be who we are or do outside forces and people determine our capabilities? I personally find that nurture is a stronger force because it deals less with potential than genetics/nature. Having the gene to be athletic is useless unless you have the motivation and encouragement to pursue a sport. Sure, you may be a born runner but circumstances in ones life may lead to a more fondness of the arts, for example. On the other hand, one without the athletic gene could, by the aid of nurture, grow to be a great athlete. I find that our own free will as an intellectual species far overpowers that of which is simply provided through genes.
ReplyDeleteThe word uncommon means a lot to me. Throughout preschool to third grade I was out of place and now I purposely be uncommon. I think people should realize we are all uncommon in our own ways and that we shouldn’t hide our true selves. Like me I used to play my littlest pet shop with my sister and probably about a month ago I watched a episode of my little pony. Over all I think that on twitter, as a school, can get “#Uncommon” started, I know when I get home I’ll do it.
ReplyDeleteNice story Mikey. Your differences make you who you are, and are very important. That is why we have friends, to share are differences, and a place where no one is different would be horrible.
DeleteMikey,
DeleteI agree. Maybe we can change the way people feel about themselves.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlKjRdTCKwc
ReplyDeletethis link is about a video of two uncommon wrestlers one who is legally blind and the other who has no legs. Even though they have this disadvantage they have one another to support each other. Most people think of uncommon as something bad and out of the ordinary but in my eyes you can turn something like this extraordinary.
What uncommon means to me is to be the person that goes the extra mile and pushes themselves past "average". Everyone can do the minimum and everyone can be okay, but to be uncommon and be the best you can is what you should strive for. I think if our class started a trend on social media then we could get the idea to spread. This video motivates me to be better than I am now. This idea could relate to sports, school, relationships, and everything in our lives. If everyone thought like this, the world could be a better place all around.

Wow! These are two very uncommon men.
DeleteI think that everyone can overcome there genetics. you can be what and who you want to be. You just have to follow your dreams and do what you believe in. if you put your mind to it nothing can stop you. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/oscar-pistorius-and-south-africas-giant-strides/story-fne39r9e-1226419406512, here is a link to an olympic runner with no legs.
ReplyDeleteBeing uncommon can be interpreted in many different ways. Many people choose to see it as a negative thing, when in reality it is what sets apart from everyone else and what makes us unique. If everyone in the world was common, this world would be extremely bland and boring. I believe stepping out of your comfort zone and doing your own thing is a great thing to do and I think people should do it more often.
ReplyDeleteI agree that being uncommon is often seen as something negative and if more and more people stop holding themselves back from being themselves then our society would be an even more diverse and interesting place.
DeleteTo me being uncommon means that a feature or talent of your is not common in a large group of people. Something that I have that's uncommon in my everyday life are my allergies to spring or some animals like cats, or that I don't like cheese except on pizza. If we started something where we show our uncommonness some people may be surprised that other people have it and they ma learn something about the other person that they hadn't learned before. But if we started on a social media page then we would need to get our whole school to do it.
ReplyDeleteThe meaning of uncommon is as simply as it looks: not common. However, some people make it complicated. The world usually lists something or someone who is uncommon as a bad thing, or worthless. This is not the case. Being uncommon means being different, and life would be so boring if everyone was the same. Even those with things that are uncommonly bad can make good out of their lives, like Alexey Romanov have been able to overcome any challenges and beat the odds. This should be a powerful example to all people that being unique is the best thing you can be, and you shouldn't try to change yourself in any way to fit in.
ReplyDeleteI agree that many people are labeled as uncommon in our society but many of those uncommon people turn out to come ahead of those labeled common.
DeleteI think that uncommon has this negative connotation that should not be. You should be you and be uncommon. The world would be such a boring place if everyone was the same. I think people need to go there own way and do their own thing. I think it would be cool to start a "uncommon" movement. Here is a pig jumping off of a diving board. This pig is being uncommon. https://www.google.com/search?q=uncommon&safe=strict&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=633&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwif-ITWhK3MAhWJGT4KHdRgDrUQ_AUIBygC#safe=strict&tbm=isch&q=uncommon+things&imgrc=tosrCEt0LIL7dM%3A
ReplyDeleteI've become fairly familiar with the word uncommon throughout my life as it would seem the genetic dice were weighed against me. As I was diagnosed about three years ago with Familial hypertriglyceridemia, a condition where fat is built to quickly and is stored in my blood, turning it quicker and quicker into a syrupy solution. If anything I should be on heart medication but I'm not. Instead I exercise even harder than ever in order to survive and exceed and while it's not easy I am one of the few who can say I'm surviving. #uncommon
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Nathan. I think you are smart enough that you will be able to figure out a way to fix this for future generations.
DeleteTo me being uncommon is pretty common. Each person has their own unique things about them that make them who they are. This concept of everyone being uncommon is obvious, even in the fact that everyone has their own fingerprint. Everyone is different. Uncommon means to be rare and different, which when I think of it, includes everyone: tall or short, blonde or brunette, black or white, brown, green, or blue eyed, male or female; the list goes on and on. These differences are the basis for our personality, and are something that should be celebrated and not hidden or frowned upon. If we could make a world where we look for these differences in people, especially in a positive way, our world would be vastly improved.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.co-intelligence.org/I-diversity.html
I agree that everyone is different, whether that means your finger print, or your personality.
DeleteI agree, all sharing the commonness of being uncommon is a really awesome thing.
DeleteTo be uncommon means to be unique and different than anybody else. However, I believe that “uncommon” is found everywhere for the reason that there is no single person that is the exact same. Although, It is rather unfortunate that there are some who are not willing to accept themselves for who they are since now in day it is most pressured to look or act a certain way. This has to be changed. So that’s why I believe that starting the trend is such a good idea for the reason that many teenagers use social media. Many will benefit from it despite us being a rather small class overall. They will see how being “uncommon” isn’t as bad as they thought. Everyone is different which can be in terms of size, talent, and/or preferences. It makes us who we are! Not only that but it also makes life more fascinating!
ReplyDeletePlatypuses are such extraordinary creatures as they are the only mammals that lay eggs:
http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/platypus/
In today’s society, being “uncommon” is something very important and can be interpreted in many different ways. Being uncommon is what makes someone unique and their own person and not caring what other people think of you. Being uncommon is also being a leader and not a follower and stepping out of your comfort zone. Although all of these things take bravery, there is no reason for you to hold yourself back. The most successful people are uncommon because they are not afraid to be themselves and stand out. If no one was uncommon and everyone acted the same way, looked the same and did the same things in fear of being judged, you’d have to agree that we would be living in a pretty boring place. This is why it is special to be uncommon.
ReplyDeleteI agree that being uncommon is good and is what makes you special and unique.
DeleteI agree that being uncommon is something that takes bravery and that we all need to work on this in our own lives.
DeleteThe official definition of "uncommon" is to be out of the ordinary or unusual. In my opinion, to be uncommon means that you are not a follower. It means that you have your own trends and don't do something just to copy someone. For example, I'm not going to buy a shirt that everyone else has; that would be the common thing to do. To be uncommon, I'd buy the shirt I think that no one else has. Another example could be a genetic disorder. Perhaps someone was born with only one arm and wanted a prosthetic, and not because it would help him/her through everyday things, but because they were trying to be common. One way to be uncommon in our everyday lives is to take risks. Overall, I think this is a very important concept and more people need to need to be #uncommon.
ReplyDeleteThe word “uncommon” is simple and complex. On one hand, people are considered uncommon for physical differences, whether it be hair type, height, and even eye color. Combinations in people are endless, which makes each of us uncomparable and uniquely interesting. On the other hand, people are considered uncommon for internal aspects like personal taste and personality. To me, being uncommon is all about embracing who you are and what you like regardless of any adversity that surrounds you. So much good comes from our differences that they should be encouraged. If not for people with varied interests, abilities, etc, we’d be setback very far from all the advancements in our society. All in all, we should take risks that make us happy and stay uncommon for the good of the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Uncommon can mean both of those. I didnt cover how your mindset could be uncommon, and I found that interesting.
DeleteBeing uncommon makes people more interesting for me. They leave an impact on people who lack being uncommon because they’re too afraid to get out of their comfort zone. If someone had the guts to do something out of their comfort zone everyday, that would make more people outgoing and courageous. Uncommon also includes people who thrive their greatest potential with limited ability to do something. In relation to the video in the blog about the pianist, I found this man named Nick Santonastasso, who has no limbs. I’ve watched plenty of videos on him I found out he thrives being in the gym. He uses his undeveloped full limb to lift weights. Here’s the article on him: http://www.today.com/news/dead-man-living-disabled-teen-turned-internet-star-lives-inspiring-2D12008775
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the video with the Russian pianist, it's very easy to say that you can "overcome" genetics. Even though he had no fingers, he most likely still practiced a lot to increase his skill and learn how to cope with a new challenge. When people find something a little more challenging than they expected, or "too difficult", it is known for them to give up. But practice does make perfect, for example, a year and half ago I had no idea how to play volleyball, I've never touched a ball in my life. But, after playing on the school team in 8th grade (I still didn't get it), then going to club, I increased my skill by working the hardest all the time, and now playing on much higher level teams. You're genetics may play a role a little bit for your skill, but someday someone who's working harder than you and wanting it more than you will overpass you, don't let your genetics hold you back!
ReplyDeleteTo me uncommon means a lot of things and it all revolves around what actions we decide to take in life. For me being uncommon is being the sore thumb that sticks out or make choices that no one else does. For some people the choices are already picked when they have a genetic disorder or a disability. All of us are uncommon one way or another some more than others but they all still uncommon, just some more than others.
ReplyDeleteUncommon to me means to be different. It means to have the ability to do different things that other people cant do. Your not a copy. Everyone these days tries to be the opposite of uncommon. Girls look at magazines and celebrities and want to be just like them. People are told to be natraul but then are torn down when they wear no makeup. People are told to wear what you want but then girls are shammed for it. I think being uncommon is good and everyone should get the opportunity to be themselves.Being uncommon is a blessing. I think people should take that.

ReplyDeleteThis link is for a father who helped his paralyzed son finish over 1000 races as a team. This is just as inspirational as uncommon. It takes a special person to put so much effort into fulfilling his son's dream. And his son is also a very uncommon person for still wanting to fullfill his dreams even though he is paralyzed. Being uncommon is a great thing, and can be very inspiring.
I agree, uncommon does not mean you can't do "normal" person stuff.
DeleteKevin I am thrilled after reading this link. Maybe I will strive to be more uncommon.
DeleteBeing uncommon is just doing something or being different from the normal accept way of life. Being uncommon not only allows others to see the world from a new point of view, but it allows for others to be inspired by those whose circumstances or opinions differ from our own. Uncommonness is a blessing that not only makes our world more creative but also more innovative.
ReplyDeleteTo me, being uncommon is a trait people can obtain when they aren't like everybody else. if we all looked for the "uncommon" in our everyday lives, everything we do would be different. some visions i picture when seeing this uncommon thing being looked at more, would be opposite of what is seen now. if we started a trend on Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter with the hashtag uncommon, it would be weird. A group of students at clc wouldnt do this.
ReplyDeletehttp://pinpple.com/post/877
ReplyDeleteThis article shows really extraordinary people. In my opinion the weirdest person was a girl who likes to walk on all fours.
Uncommon means different, ordinary, not like other people. In today's society being different is often seen as a bad thing. To me, being "uncommon" is a good thing, something people should want to be. Truthfully this should be the opposite, we should try to be different and not be common. Go outside of the box, switch it up. If we looked for the uncommon in everyone, everything we do would be different. No one would see he world the same as they do now. If we were to start to hashtag uncommon trend on social media, it would be weird for other people. People want to fit, and be the same as everyone else so they don't stick out, and seeing people trying to show off their differences is new, and different for what they're use to.
ReplyDeleteTo be uncommon to me means to do something not everyone is willing to do and that not everyone can do. Its something that a lot of people don't get to experience in every day life. I think being a Marine is uncommon or having a close family member that is is uncommon to most because of the physical and mental exertion it takes to make it through boot camp to become one. There are many branches of military but Marines have the longest and hardest Basic Training out of all branches. This is why they are the few (uncommon) and the Proud. I think if a group of students at CLC started the hashtag of uncommon it could blow up into a big thing.
ReplyDeleteThe word uncommon has multiple meanings in my opinion, first there's the one everyone thinks of as uncommon meaning different, but I disagree. I believe that uncommon means being unique and yes technically different, but not as a freak. Not as the person that acts weird or the person who doesn't have the attitude towards certain things. People today would say that being uncommon isn't good, that it singles you out, makes you an outcast. I say that being uncommon is being a real person, I say that nobody is unique or their own person if they aren't different from others, I say that being uncommon is better than being average. Spread this message with #be_uncommon
ReplyDeleteBeing uncommon to me is having a trait that most "normal" people don't have. When people do have uncommon traits this gives "normal" people a perspective on how hard life can be. However its not bad to be uncommon it dosent make you any less important than anyone else. The thing is that everyone is different so their definition of uncommon is different.
ReplyDeleteBeing uncommon to me means that you are different that the everyday joe. Being uncommon can be both good and bad. Although being uncommon singles you out from everybody else around, it just means you are unique in your ways. I think everyone should strive to be uncommon in some sort of way. Everybody these days are following the latest trends, and once in a while an "uncommon" will freshen things up.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIn today’s society, to be uncommon is the equivalent of being “weird”. I believe that this is very prevalent in our everyday lives. To me, to be uncommon is to be different, which isn't a bad thing. We look at people, especially at school, and if they're different in the way they act or dress we automatically turn away. I personally struggle with this sometimes. Some traits are “odd” in society and we as the next generation need to overlook them and bring our community closer together. I bet if we started the hashtag, we could start a movement. I think it would raise confidence levels of many humans around the world and bring a surge of higher self-esteem.
I think that uncommon means rare. Uncommon stuff usually stands out more and that can be a good or bad thing.Being uncommon can mean that you are better at doing something, or the uncommon thing can decide if you are worse at it. I included a link to an image of an albino sea turtle. They are very uncommon and they look really cool. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-074cADxnH38/UbWUv6m1xjI/AAAAAAAAfyI/raVqsP--2ao/s1600/turtle-crop.jpg
